Cell phone freakout

This man could not get cell phone service on the one train from 200 street to 125th. Mind you, this is only a 10 minute train ride, but this brother could barely contain his frustration about the situation.

My Challenge to my Father

I have officially challenged my father to a pushup contest. He will lose. Keep looking for updates on when this will go down. He first has to accept.

The challenge is who can do the most pushups after 6 weeks of training through this website I found through lifehacker.com.

The website for the training schedule is at http://www.hundredpushups.com/

go to jersey, bondo, sand, repeat

This is my life.  It involves a lot of bondo and being covered in saw dust.

I think there was a night of drinking and a diner somewhere in the middle of my trips to Jersey.

Yay load in tomorrow.

To my mother who is reading this:

A load in is when you load in the materials needed (lights, sounds, etc) into a theater to make the show work.  Sorry I haven't been responding to all your facebook comments.  Please JUST TEXT ME.  It's a lot easier for me to respond as well.

Recharged yet tired/sick.

After seeing 'love, janis' down in NJ, I strangely feel like I have a sinus/ear infection.

As a side note, I saw blue man and frunzbrunta this week. Its been very enjoyable for a number of reasons. One being a picture of me and a friend looking up at a mirrored ceiling in the back of a limo.

Switching trains

I have mastered the art of trying to find the shortest/fastest way to get from point a to b.

On the weekends, I have found that the one train from 207 to 72nd then the 2 or 3 train (which runs express to times square suit me quite well.

On weekdays, it is the A express from 207 to 59th (because I get a seat) then transfer to the B or D to rockafeller center makes my 1 block walk to work quite easy.

This new fascination for finding alternate routes comes out of my frustration that I have been spending a good 7.5 to 13 hours a week riding the subway just to work. This does not include pleasure trips out to queens or going out to eat. It is no longer a simple A/B plan, but on average 2-3 trains are in play.

This all may seem a little crazy but saving 10 to 20 minutes both ways can save me anywhere from 2.5 to 5 hours a week if the trains are going slow.

If you ever come to visit, you will see what I mean.

Day one of photo a day

Inspired by some random youtube video, I will start this 'arm length photo a day' thing to see how long I can keep it up.

One day down.

Broke fi broke

Qoute of the day:

"Its not about that 70/30 stuff, we do it 50/50." - Guy talking about how he pays for dinner with his girlfriend when they go out to McDonalds tonight.

It actually snowed today

Sunday was just the warm up for what to be is the craziest snow i've seen since I got out here.

Needless to say it doesn't compare to how we roll in WI, but it is still more than most New Yorkers expected today.

Qoute of the day

"My family had to move because of white people. Then we have 'My family had to move because of super white people.' How can you not call that a musical theatre moment."

Sunday, February 10, 2008

Its snowing, alot.

After going through weeks of 45 degree days, we finally have our first real snow storm that i've seen this winter.

It is really funny to see all the snow covered people freaking out.

I heard someone in passing call this a blizzard as well.

DDR makes me smile

I have many things that make me happy and my new toy is definitely one of those things.

There is also a secret language that 14 year olds have. The easiest way to explain it is that it uses a series of hand gestures and head knods/bobs to communicate emotions while saying 'he said this, she did that'. I wasn't listening to the conversation because I was listening to some radiohead but it went something like this:

Girl1- happy, excited, unsure, confused
Girl2-clarifying, reassuring, excited, questioning
Girl1-surprised, unsure, understanding, reassuring

I decided to take out my headphones at this point and they were talking about shampoo.

Shallom Shabbos. My 1/32 bit of jew comes out on friday to celebrate.

I heart tourists that walk slow

Something about walking through times square when I get off work has made me want to listen to Wilco for the ride home... Its either that or the eternal sunshine soundtrack.

In any case, I have gotten better at pissing off taxi drivers by unnecessarily crossing when they have a green light, thus causing all the sheep to follow and stop mid cross and debate their path. Its as if tourists have never crossed a street before and must rely on others for assistance.

I do not mind asking about trains or where to get tickets for shows, but the rhetorical questions of 'if I want to go to a higher numbered street, would I go up or downtown?' The other thing that really annoys me is when I have headphones in and people still try to talk to me.

Headphones = I really don't want to be bothered.

Lastly, if you ever want me to call you again, you should probably text me your cell phone number. My phone got lost and I remember very few of them by heart.

A new new home

Since moving out of the hostel, my life has been mostly work with the occasional visit from a friend or basement rave.

The video is still not done, but its fairly close to completion.

Above is the view out my window. If you are from La Crosse, you should know what the picture on the right is.

A starbucks and two redbulls

The easiest way to comb through the last few days is to Tarentino it and go backwards.

Sunday
With a sleepless night and coffee/two redbull day, I find that caffine has become a short term fiend to me.

The video has come a long way and we called in some help to sift through all the video of meatloaf and wizard of oz that our musical director has worked on in the past.

Saturday
I woke up this morning not hung over from the night before. Sarah was gracious enough to let me sleep in her bed while she took the couch. I would not have minded the couch if it wasn't a love seat, but it was.

She took me to the train line that was preschool to the manhatten lines. I transfered lines and made it back on the bus from Boston to Manhatten. I met a harvard law student on the way back and enjoyed having an intellectual conversation about contract law and equity.

Having time to come home and go straight to work, I did not eat dinner and ate some fruit and a piece of pita to tide myself over.

Started work, edited video, drank a coffee at midnight after some amazing film footage was taken. Got a kosher dinner and left for home at 4ish. I remember falling asleep at 6 something.

Friday

Today was my day of production meetings and taping interviews. I won't go into depth about our innerworkings, but I called a lot of theaters.

The day flew by and it soon was Shabbos. My information about the ride from Manhatten to boston was incorrect and I did not learn this till late afternoon.

I deposited my check, got food, and took a cab during rush hour to past chelsea. Got to boston at 10:15 and meet up at a bar.

They had a mechanical bull in the middle of this night club, which made for constant drunken entertainment throughout the night.

Thursday

Nothing special besides having dinner with emily and seeing her cats from back home (I mean the tabby type, not the friends kind). I really like her cats.

Act of God.

Sometimes you don't try for things

I feel as if I might be falling for someone. I told myself that this wasn't going to happen this soon, but it might have occured.

Do to issues I won't get into, I can't have exactly what I want. I am trying to figure out if what I want and what I need are the same thing.

As of now, the answer is yes.

Side note: My desk is the second image as it stands currently.

How would you like your water?

Boiled, tap, or bottled.

Only in NY.

The F train

So today I decided to go to church on sunday. Coney Island was my destination, but it got dark and I decided against that choice.
I also finished my book. That is part of the real reason for going back.

Explaining the below posts

This is what happens when you leave yourself logged into your boss's gmail account and he can't figure out why he's receiving your email.

I would delete the posts, but I find it humorous.

Jazz standard

So my house mate emily convinced me to go see the Maria Schieder Orchestra. It was worth it. The show was by far some of the best live jazz I've ever seen.

A new home

Things are well, and I am enjoying the guest house and the kitties.

I have a full time job now with a production company that will be mounting a show for Broadway by May 1.

I am content.
